Job Description

Technical Infrastructure Architect

Our client is a well established Superannuation firm headquartered in Melbourne and is currently working through a recent acquisition.  This role will have a strong focus on Infrastructure with the recent merger needing you to bring two networks together - Domain, AD (On prem and Azure), O365 (Combining MS tenancies, Sharepoint, Outlook etc), User Access and Cyber.

In Scope to include (but not limited to):

  • Network – Designing and planning the expansion of the Client’s network from a single site to multi-region site setup requiring access to their Data Centres. This requires coordinating the network resources from internal and external
  • Domain – Establishing trusts between the two merged company’s domains and the respective Active Directory instances allowing for accounts from each entity to be able to access (authorised) resources in each of the domains as necessary (e.g. On-Premise AD, Azure, SSO providers)
  • Microsoft Tenancies – Consolidating O365 (e.g. Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, One Drive, BI etc) instances but this may require cohabitation of both tenancies for a duration of time to preserve business operations.
  • Telephony – Migrating Active users to Mitel and expanding to a multi-site model will require technical planning to ensure that latency sensitive media streams at a network level do not experience degradation. This is across either when connecting directly to the Mitel Cloud instance or when needing to transfer calls across to colleagues in different locations (which will be done across the internal network)
  • Applications & Systems – Establishing a migration/consolidation/decommissioning strategy for each system in the agreed target state technology stack. Establishing a Day1 and beyond view for each of these agreed systems. Accepting that some legacy systems will still be required post Day1 (SFT day).
  • Hosting arrangements – Target state is for all systems to be hosted in main DCs and transitioned securely where applicable. However, there is an understanding that some legacy systems may remain active with the need to migrate services at a later date. Understanding and establishing this strategy will also be dependent on the Applications and Systems migration/consolidation/decommissioning strategy.
  • Data – Includes the identification and transition/consolidation/decommissioning/archive of data for any/all secondary (noncore) systems and services included in the Asset Inventory.
  • Cyber Security – Working in conjunction with both entitities cyber security teams and 3rd Party providers to ensure that any/all designs and connectivity requirements (Network, Domain, User Access/MFA/Single Sign on) are appropriately planned, implemented, and secured.
  • User Access & authentication – Establishing a cross domain user access & authentication model for systems in both environments considering SSO and MFA from multiple vendors (Okta, Microsoft)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Technology Assessment and Planning: Utilising the agreed target state operating model, conduct an assessment of the technology infrastructure, domains, network, systems, and applications to identify overlaps, gaps, and compatibility issues.
  • Technical Architecture Design: Design the architecture for the merged fund, taking into account scalability, reliability, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Integration Strategy: Develop and maintain an integration strategy and roadmap for merging the relevant/necessary systems of both funds based on the agreed target state technology stack and creating a phased approach for integration.
  • Decommissioning: Develop a decommissioning plan pre and post-merger date.
  • Data Migration Planning: Collaborating with engineers and 3rd parties to plan and execute the migration of relevant/necessary data from relevant/necessary systems of both funds. Ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance throughout the migration process.
  • Quality Assurance: Overseeing quality assurance processes to ensure that the integrated technology systems meet the functional and performance requirements of the merged fund.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Documentation: Documenting the relevant architecture design, integration processes, and best practices to facilitate knowledge transfer to the IT team and support ongoing maintenance and enhancements of the relevant technology systems.
  • Reporting: Provide accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders and the program PMO
