We are on the lookout for a dynamic individual with personal experience of disability who is eager to share their story and make a positive impact on school-aged children. This exciting opportunity will see you join the Community Impact team in the Sydney or Newcastle region, NSW, where you will help educate, inspire, and empower young minds.
This is a casual role, offering up to three days of work per week, primarily during school terms.
About the role
- Facilitate engaging and impactful disability inclusion workshops for school-aged students (Years 1-8) across Sydney or Newcastle and surrounding areas.
- Foster strong relationships with schools, ensuring ongoing partnerships while gathering valuable feedback from teachers and staff to continuously improve the workshops.
- Meet and exceed KPIs related to the quality of workshops, participant engagement, and evaluation feedback.
- Represent our client as a passionate and professional brand ambassador, promoting the importance of disability inclusion.
- Adapt content and delivery to suit the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring an inclusive, accessible experience for all.
- Support and motivate students to reflect on their understanding of disability and inclusion through interactive activities and discussions.
About you
- Lived experience of disability, with the ability to share your personal journey in a way that resonates with young audiences and reinforces the importance of social inclusion. You will draw on your experiences to bring the message to life and create a meaningful impact.
- Experience in presenting, teaching, educating, or performing is highly desirable, ideally with school-aged groups. If you have a background in public speaking, drama, or teaching, it is a big plus!
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, inspire, and motivate school-aged audiences, both in person and through digital platforms. You will have the energy and enthusiasm to keep young minds engaged and excited.
- A passion for creating an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment where students feel encouraged to participate and learn.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid and current Working with Children Check.
