  • Provide technical governance support to a regional Victorian Council | must be able to read and interpret legislation and provide advice
  • Previous Local Council experience in Governance essential  
  • Initially 3 month role | Regional Victorian Council can work remote

About the company

Our client a local council based in regional Victoria is looking for a Governance and Compliance Officer to join their team. This is a fully remote, full-time role, working Monday – Friday. The contract is initially for 3 months but could be extended if the project timelines progress.

You will be responsible for providing technical governance and administrative support to the organisation ensuring the strictest compliance with legislative requirements.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Delegations and Authorisations (Instrument development, maintenance and provision of advice)
  • Personal Interests Returns
  • Policy and Procedure Management (Conducting Policy reviews, maintaining the Register, Governance review of all new/revised policies, procedural advice)
  • Ability to read and interpret legislation and provide advice
  • Conflict of Interest / Gifts, Benefits and Hospitality (Register maintenance and provision of advice)
  • Privacy (provision of advice, processing privacy requests and determining outcome in accordance with applicable privacy laws)
  • Freedom of Information

You will have the following:

  • Previous experience within Local Council is essential
  • Significant experience in Governance
  • Experience providing high level communication and engagement advice and support across both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage own time, plan and organise own and / or others work and / or resources at an advanced level.
